Xavier Mata is a permanent CNRS research engineer in computational biology with a background in molecular biology and a member of the AGES group.
Most of his research now focuses on the study of the characteristics and diversity of the vines and wines produced and consumed in France from Prehistory to the Middle Ages (ANR Viniculture). And he is heavily involved in the development within the lab of the management and use of the material necessary for the acquisition of 3D images of archaeological samples. These are surface 3D scanners such as the ARTEC Micro and Eva, and tomographs (X-ray micro CT- scanners).
